Vitamin C is necessary for the manufacture of collagen, which maintains the structure of the body, ie. tendons, connective tissue, cartilage. It is also necessary for the proper function of the immune system. Its best known role is in the prevention of scurvy. Many studies have confirmed that vitamin C has antioxidant properties and gives us protection against free radicals. Because of its role in cleansing and preventing oxidation, vitamin C is a useful addition in most nutritional therapy cases.
Vitamin E also has antioxidant properties and protects the immune system when it is under stress. It also protects the lipid (fatty) portion of cell membranes.
